Magnum
Magnum is a bittering/aroma type cultivar, bred in 1980 at Huell, the German Hop Research Instititute, from the American variety Galena and the German male 75/5/3. It is grown in Slovenia since late 80`s. The yields are good and stable. It has extremely big and heavy cones.
CHEMICAL STRUCTURE AND BREWING EVALUATIONS
Magnum has a bittering aroma. It contains 11.0 % – 15.5 % of α-acids (21.0 – 29.0 % of cohumulone). The ratio between α- and β-acids is 1.6 – 3.2. The essential oil content varies from 1.6 to 2.6 ( ml/100g cone dry basic ) . Magnum has a very good storage stability. Magnum is very suitable for extraction and for combination with other varieties in the brewing process.
COMPONENTS OF BITTER ACIDS

COMPONENTS OF ESSENTIAL OIL
Total Oil: 1.6 – 2.6 ml/100g
